What does Acidgone taste like?

When mixed with plain water, Acidgone tastes like an unflavored herbal fiber drink. Acidgone may be mixed with 8 ounces of water and 8 ounces of your favorite natural juice (no added sugar or corn syrup) for additional flavoring. Be sure to drink 16 ounces of water immediately after taking Acidgone. Do not mix Acidgone with protein powder, other fiber drinks containing psyllium, nut butters, milk, or other beverages containing milk.back to top

Why is Acidgone in a powder form? Why isn't it in capsule form or tablet form?

Acidgone is a powder formulation (not capsule) because it is more effective in that dosage form for several reasons. Fiber supplements in capsule/tablet form are difficult to dissolve after swallowing. If the fibers in tablets do not dissolve quickly, water will soon leave the stomach, leaving the hard tablet behind and rendering it less effective. Fiber supplements work best when they are dissolved with water first to form a thin suspension before consumption. Because fiber expands, it must be taken with a large amount of water to prevent bowel obstruction and constipation.

How does Acidgone differ from Metamucil?

Metamucil and other generic brands contain psyllium husks, dextrose/other sweeteners, and food coloring depending on the brand and flavor. See our ingredients page to learn about the properties and purpose of each ingredient in Acidgone. back to top

I have high blood pressure. Is it safe for me to take Acidgone?

Yes, Acidgone is formulated for people with high blood pressure in mind. Some ingredients in the formula have been shown to help lower cholesterol and high blood pressure. If you are taking any medications, including medications for high blood pressure, take them at least 2 hours before or after taking Acidgone to ensure proper absorption. Be sure to consult your doctor before taking any new dietary supplements, including Acidgone.back to top

I have adult-onset (Type II) diabetes. Is it safe for me to take Acidgone?

Yes, Acidgone is formulated for people with adult-onset diabetes in mind. Some ingredients in Acidgone can actually help to improve diabetic conditions. Diabetics dependent on insulin must still monitor their blood sugar as part of their normal routine when they take Acidgone. Consult your doctor before taking any new dietary supplements, including Acidgone. back to top

May I take Acidgone at night?

Yes. However, since taking Acidgone involves drinking 3-4 cups of liquid, it is advisable to drink it at least one hour before bedtime to avoid frequent urination during the night. back to top

What are the best times of the day to take Acidgone?

There is no set time of day that works for everyone due to different lifestyles and work schedules, so do what works best for your schedule. For maximum benefit, Acidgone is to be taken twice daily, in between meals. Be sure to have meals, vitamin supplements, and medications at least two hours before or after taking Acidgone to allow for proper absorption.

I have diarrhea often. Is Acidgone suitable for me?

That depends on what causes your diarrhea. If your diarrhea is a side effect of your medication, you may want to consider asking your doctor about whether or not it is possible to switch to another medication or if it is ok to stop taking it all together. For example, many antibiotics can cause diarrhea especially if taken long term, so it’s important that you consult your physician regarding the cause
of your diarrhea.

If your diarrhea is a result of taking too many antibiotics, adding a probiotic such as Suprema Dophilus may help alleviate the problem. Once your diarrhea is under control, you may start
Acidgone. If the diarrhea is caused by foods that do not agree with you, Acidgone can help to cleanse unwanted food residues and toxins in your intestines. If you take Imodium or Lomotil for this type of diarrhea, it can do more harm than good because these types of diarrhea medicines only slow down the motility (the power of spontaneous movement) of your intestinal tract. As a result you end up keeping the toxins/unwanted food in your body longer than you have to. Consult your doctor before taking any new dietary supplements, including Acidgone.

Can Acidgone give me diarrhea?

Acidgone is a stool-softener. It does not irritate your intestinal mucosa like harsh stimulant laxatives. You may experience more frequent bowel movements but that is normal, and even beneficial. Having bowel movements 2-4 times a day is normal as long as your stool is soft but not runny. Most people eat at least 2-4 times a day. If you have only one bowel movement a day, this indicates that food residues have stayed in your colon longer than they should. However, people who have irritable bowel syndrome and/or impaired sphincter muscles might find their stool too loose after taking Acidgone. In that case, it might be necessary to reduce the dosage of Acidgone by half or stop taking it all together. back to top

I experienced abdominal swelling during the first week of taking Acidgone, and then the swelling subsided. Why did this happen?

This is to be expected for people who have had chronic constipation due to accumulation of old, impacted fecal matter in their intestines. This phenomenon is a common reaction to cleansing. Initially, your abdomen may swell considerably due to the old feces swelling up with water in the process of being softened by Acidgone. You may also experience a temporary increase in flatulence. This situation will gradually resolve itself as you continue taking Acidgone.back to top

Once I start taking Acidgone, how long do I need to take it? Is it safe to take it for long term?

Acidgone is an all natural food supplement formula, so it is safe to take long-term. Some people choose to take Acidgone on a quarterly basis to maintain a clean and healthy gastrointestinal tract, while others take Acidgone for a specific purpose (to help lower cholesterol, diverticulitis, acne, etc.). The length of time may vary based on an individual’s personal circumstances but there is no set time limit. Consult your doctor about taking Acidgone for your individual needs.back to top

What will happen when I stop taking the Acidgone?

That depends on your diet and lifestyle. If you are accustomed to eating a constipating diet without a good variety of fresh vegetables and fruits at every meal, you may likely experience constipation again when you stop taking Acidgone.back to top

What is the maximum frequency and amount of Acidgone I can take?

Maximum amount is 2 teaspoonfuls (1 scoop) per drink, twice daily. Refer to Directions for Use on this website and on the product label. Remember that inadequate water intake may result in constipation. back to top

Why is there a slight difference in color between the bottle of Acidgone that I have now from the bottle I had before?

Acidgone is made from whole plant ingredients. The color of these plants may change according to the time of the year they are harvested in addition to different soil conditions by region.back to top

I bought two containers of Acidgone at one time. One bottle looks like it contains less powder than the other one, why?

Acidgone is sold by weight, not by volume and some settling may occur. The amount of settling may differ from one container to another. After you shake the container a few times, the powder should fill up almost to the rim. This is also why you should shake up the powder before measuring the dosage with the scoop. By weight, the dosage should be approximately 7.8 grams (0.275 oz).back to top

I had my gall bladder removed and have digestive problems all the time. Can Acidgone help me?

Yes. People who have had their gall bladder removed have trouble digesting food, especially fatty and processed foods. One of the important functions of Dandelion Root in Acidgone is to stimulate the secretion of bile, which is needed to digest fat.back to top

I drink coffee regularly and am addicted to caffeine. If I want to kick the caffeine habit, should I do it at the same time I start the Acidgone?

Yes, you may. However, keep in mind that you will likely suffer from caffeine withdrawal headaches and other symptoms for up to one week. These symptoms are unrelated to Acidgone.back to top

I have chronic pain, which makes it necessary for me to take narcotic painkillers regularly. Is it safe for me to take Acidgone?

Yes, Acidgone is safe. Unfortunately, constipation is a very common and lasting side effect of narcotic painkillers. Acidgone can help by keeping your stool soft. However, Acidgone works better when the causative agents of constipation have been removed. Consult your doctor before making any changes to your prescribed medications and also before taking any new dietary supplements, including Acidgone. Be sure to have meals, vitamin supplements, and medications at least two hours before or after taking Acidgone to allow for proper absorption.back to top

I am taking Synthroid (a synthetic thyroid hormone), is Acidgone suitable for me?

Yes. Thyroid hormones increase the metabolic rate of body tissues. They can also increase the rate of fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism. Thyroid hormones are often used to treat obesity, however, they have been found to be ineffective. If your doctor prescribes Synthroid for you as a replacement or supplemental therapy in hypothyroidism, you may continue to take it as prescribed while you are taking Acidgone to help you with other health problems. Be sure to have meals, vitamin supplements, and medications at least two hours before or after taking Acidgone to allow for proper absorption.

Can I drink an Acidgone smoothie before I workout?

Acidgone smoothie is excellent before workout because it does not contain the protein powder like other protein smoothies. Taking protein powder in smoothie is equivalent to eating meat and it is difficult to digest before working out. In addition, protein induces a lot of acid into the stomach since protein is mainly digested in the stomach. Acidgone smoothie absorbs the acid and it is easy to digest and will give you immediate boost to your energy level. You will feel better and last longer in your workout.back to top

Can I become dependent on Acidgone?

Acidgone is a food supplement formula. It does not contain drugs, harsh laxatives, or stimulants, and therefore does not create negative dependency or withdrawal symptoms.

It is also important to make a distinction between our body’s dependency on water-soluble fibers and good nutrition vs. dependency on drugs and laxatives that our bodies do not need. We can say we have a healthy dependency on nourishing, whole foods because they keep us healthy and sustain our lives. Unhealthy dependency can exist with drugs and other addictive courses of treatment. Although we may need some drugs to fight diseases we acquire, dependency on drugs can eventually destroy or impair normal body functions in addition to creating withdrawal symptoms that can lead us into deeper dependency.
